Jacob Cruz-Rine
Jacob Cruz-Rine (he/him) is a CHamoru filmmaker currently living on Tongva land. Through fiction and non-fiction, Cruz-Rine is exploring creation story, the effects of colonialism, a deep longing for “home”, and ancestral practices associated with Guahan, as a CHamoru person living in the diaspora.
Cruz-Rine received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2018. He has shown films at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Kearny Street Workshop, ProArts, and most recently premiered a short documentary, Crying on I-5, at the Houston Asian Pacific Islander Film Festival and the Māsima Film Tour through the Salt Lake City Film Society.
